Introducing: The Ford Lightning

One of the main innovations Ford has been focusing on is electric vehicles. We had the pleasure of acquiring the Ford F-150 Lighting in early July. It’s great to have it here to show to the Brookings community, but it also gives a feel for what the 2023 Fords models are going to be like and what the future looks like for all of Ford’s electric vehicles.

Since we do have a demo version of the Ford F-150 Lightning on the lot, we felt like we should show it off a little bit.  We did a walkaround video showing off the vehicle’s features.

The Stats

If you think that the ‘Built Ford Tough’ slogan doesn’t apply to the electric models, you’re definitely wrong. The stats on the Ford F-150 Lightning are pretty impressive.

• 0-60 in mid-4 seconds

• Towing capacity of 7,700 lbs

You can tell that there was a lot of effort put into making sure nothing is sacrificed in the Lightning, but we’re not even getting to the best part of the Ford Lightning.

Accessories

The technological innovation doesn’t stop for the Ford Lightning vehicle being electric-only. The accessories provided with the vehicle set the standards for future/electric vehicle options.

The Lightning is Constantly Learning

The Ford Lightning comes with features that help your vehicle perform better. Using Ford’s SYNC 4A will let the vehicle get to know your driving habits, common routes, etc. so it will perform at its best.

When you are driving your Lightning, it will give you real-time change estimates to arrival time and battery usage. It will tell you what your mile range is based on any possible factor that you may face on the road.

The Lightning also has software updates to make sure it is up-to-date and performing efficiently. Yep, you heard that right. Your vehicle is updated with as little work as you updating your phone.

It Helps With Power Outages

Did the power go out in your neighborhood? No need to worry about it. The Lightning has intelligent backup power. As long as your Lightning is connected to the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, it can power your home for three days or even more if rationed properly.

No Engine Means More Storage

Whether you need space to store your tools or gear for your next camping adventure, the Lightning’s got you covered. It’s water resistant and comes with four 120v outlets and two USB chargers. Lastly, it can handle a load capacity of 400 lbs!
